THE WORKING VISIT OF EUROPEAN COMMISSIONER WOPKE HOEKSTRA AND CROATIAN MINISTER MARIJA VUČKOVIĆ TO DOK-ING AND INDELOOP HEADQUARTERS IN ZAGREB ON MARCH 13
The working visit of European Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra and Croatian Minister Marija Vučković to companies DOK-ING and Indeloop provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the project “S2H2: From Sludge to Hydrogen for a Circular Economy” and Indeloop’s groundbreaking innovation. Commissioner Hoekstra expressed strong interest in further supporting Indeloop’s innovative technology, while Minister Vučković emphasized the Croatian Government’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for innovations.
The visit featured a productive meeting, where Commissioner Hoekstra, Minister Vučković, and company representatives discussed the innovative solutions offered by DOK-ING and Indeloop. During a detailed presentation of the Looper technology, Commissioner Hoekstra recognized its immense potential for commercialization on both European and global markets, highlighting its significance beyond national boundaries and affirming the active support of the European Commission. He praised Looper for transforming waste management challenges into dual solutions—for energy and security sectors.
“Today I had the opportunity to witness spectacular company firsthand that produces a technology that successfully bridges many challenges, elevating solutions to a new level. Looper demonstrates that Croatia has what it takes to lead in clean hydrogen production, crucial for Europe’s energy future. The European Commission fully supports projects like this, essential for reaching our goal of net-zero emissions and ensuring a sustainable energy future“, stated Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate Action, Net Zero Emissions, and Clean Growth.
Minister Vučković noted the importance of continued governmental support: “Looper, as uniquely Croatian innovation, holds immense potential not only for our country but for the entire European Union. Innovations like Looper are essential in achieving Europe’s climate objectives“.
Following the meeting, Commissioner Hoekstra visited Indeloop‘s facilities for a closer look at the Looper technology. Indeloop founder and innovator Vjekoslav Majetić highlighted the critical challenges faced at the European level, emphasizing the need for coordination and collaboration between the public and private sectors. “We’ve observed significant interest in our innovation, which motivates us to continue developing Looper technology. I strongly believe it will eventually become integral to urban ecosystems throughout Europe,” said Majetić, a renowned entrepreneur and recipient of numerous awards.
Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe and former two-term Member of the European Parliament, expressed great enthusiasm about the EU’s interest in Looper: “With an impressive budget of up to €100 billion, the new Decarbonisation Fund will significantly accelerate Europe’s green transition and the development of innovative projects like Looper, driving us swiftly towards carbon neutrality“.
