DOK-ING Presents Green Hydrogen Initiative for a Carbon-Neutral Waste Managment to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković

DOK-ING presented company’s innovative projects in energy sector alongside its existing product portfolio for defense industry to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and members of the Croatian government. During this visit, DOK-ING presented its newest innovation in energy sector, system that converts sludge from wastewater into green hydrogen at the company’s headquarters in Zagreb.

Zagreb, Croatia, 4.11.2024. – The representatives of the Croatian company DOK-ING presented company’s innovative projects in energy sector alongside its existing product portfolio for defense industry to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and members of the Croatian government. During this visit, DOK-ING presented its newest innovation in energy sector, system that converts sludge from wastewater into green hydrogen at the company’s headquarters in Zagreb.

The founder and owner of DOK-ING and chairman of the Supervisory Board, Vjekoslav Majetić, emphasized that this solution is essential for waste management problem in Croatia to achieve its waste management goals. From the waste that needs to be managed, DOK-ING can produce environmentally friendly energy in the form of hydrogen, which can provide a new energy source.

“We have a hyperproduction of waste material that we cannot recycle, and on the other hand, we have this innovative technological product. I would like to solve the waste problem in Croatia that is suffocating us,” said innovator Majetić.

He also pointed out that he would like representatives of local authorities across the country to move away from considering traditional waste incinerators that generate excessive CO2 emissions. Mr. Majetić confirmed that this is a new technology tested at DOK-ING and an advanced technological product that is significant for all of Croatia.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Green Transition of the Republic of Croatia, Marija Vučković, stated that DOK-ING is a world-renowned and esteemed technology company that can assist in the ambitious green path of the EU and Croatia toward a carbon-neutral economy. She also mentioned that DOK-ING’s project of converting sludge from wastewater into hydrogen has been acknowledged in the EU Innovation Fund as the best in Europe.

The Croatian Minister of Economy, Ante Šušnjar, sees DOK-ING as a notable example of Croatian industry that is recognized on a global level. He pointed out that it is the leading company in the world for demining and that over 90 percent of its production is exported.

” Here, we have witnessed very innovative projects that represent a revolution on a global scale, particularly in ecological waste management and the production of green hydrogen. As these initiatives are implemented, and I believe that the development project is completed, we will be much closer to our decarbonization goals, as well as the goals of the European Union,” emphasized Šušnjar.

He also mentioned that the government will strive to strengthen similar activities, not only in DOK-ING, which is a shining example of how funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as the Operational Plan for Competitiveness and Cohesion, can be utilized. Such activities can also be subsidized from the state budget.
